Mr. Oliphant is currently in his 9th year at Propel Schools. He assisted in opening Propel East as a 2nd grade teacher and then transitioned into the role of technology coach/technology director. Mr. Oliphant is currently in his 4th year as co-principal at Propel Braddock Hills High School which is a school of Innovation and Design. Mr. Oliphant is a Smart Exemplary Educator, a Discover Educator Network STAR, and was nominated for leader of the year through the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology in 2010.
In the spring of 2013, Mr. Oliphant was nominated as a Change Agent for Education. The purpose of this initiative is to introduce regional K-12 teachers and educators to the theory and practice of Design Thinking and Human Centered Design as a way to effect change in public education. This series of workshops is an introduction to a way of learning, and at the same time a way of teaching, that is grounded in empathy, understanding what students and their teachers need, and a spirit of curiosity and inquiry. Mr. Oliphant attended Point Park University and obtained his Master’s at California University of Pennsylvania in Supervision and Administration.
